What a Ward!

So, I don't know what to think of my new singles ward. I actually don't know if it qualifies for a ward - there are only about 40 people in it! I don't think I have ever been in a ward this small. It's been kind of strange, everyone seems to know everyone else. Mary and I went to FHE tonight and were surprised by how many people came. For a small ward, they sure do have big turn outs at activities. Hopefully in a few weeks we'll fit in and it won't be so odd.

Summer is for Science

I've spent the last two weeks in a summer science institute sponsored by UNLV and the Clark County School District. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. (That doesn't mean that I didn't have to deal with really annoying people, too!!) Anyway, here's a picture of our group on our field trip. We went to the Springs Preserve and it was ridiculously hot!!

Ouch!

So, of all the things I like about Vegas, the other people driving is not one of them. I was driving in the parking lot of my new complex and a car backed up right into me!! All I could think was, "Not my brand new car!" Anyway, here's what it looks like until I can get it fixed.

New Apartment

In case you didn't know, I moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago with my friend (and former mission comp) Mary. It's a great apartment, even if it is in an area I don't know too well. It's a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom with a gas stove and fireplace! Here are some photos.

The master bathroom (mine) even has a roman tub - it's huge! You could probably fit about 5 people in there. (It's like the tub in Bandon, only rectangular!)

I am still adjusting to living with a roommate again. I got kind of used to living on my own, but I definitely love having Mary here!

I'm Back!!

OK - so it's been forever since I wrote anything new. What can I say, it's been a busy summer! I worked with special ed. kids for all of July. I was hard work, and I was exhausted, but it was a lot of fun, too. Here's a picture of us having a picnic at Mt. Charleston.

Schools out!!

So the school year is finally over. I don't know if I'm excited or sad. It's interesting to think that I have about 3 weeks of nothing to do before I start my summer job. I am going to be working at a special ed school for their extended school year (ESY) program. I'm not sure yet, but I think I will be working with kids who have severe disabilities. It will be a nice change, because I LOVE my job and don't want to get burnt out. I am going up to Utah for a bit to do some family history research up in Salt Lake.

Thank You, I have a life...

Look! I finally have proof that I have a life! My friends and I all went to an Emerson Drive concert. (They are a country group - I know that's a shock, but I do like a few of their songs.) Anyway, it was a ton of fun. They gave out free cd's and signed them after the show. We were near the end of the line, but after about 20 minutes of waiting, they had us go to the front of the line. I think one of the band members noticed that our friend Eleesha was in a wheelchair.
