Spring Break Is For TEACHERS!!

In case you've ever wondered, Spring Break is really for the teachers. Why would students need a break? The teacher's are the one's who're about to go postal! In Utah, they only give the teacher's 2 or 3 days off, maybe that's because the students are better. Here in Vegas, we get a whole week. We need it to recover from all the craziness! Not to worry, however, I sure know how to take full advantage of Spring Break.

So far, I've spent several hours on the couch watching tv and reading. Today, I went and had my car refinanced. And my big plans for the rest of the week: cleaning my apartment and taking my car in for service. I know, I know. You are all jealous of my fabulously exciting life. I'm sure you'll get over it!!

Winter is cold...

I think I have over adjusted to living in Las Vegas. It doesn't really get all that cold here, but I always seem to be freezing! Anyway, I thought I would share some of the movies I've watched recently, in case you're looking for something good to watch!

Meet the Robinson's - My roommate Mary bought this one. It is very funny and cute, just as all good Disney movies should be.

Stardust - We decided to rent this out of pure boredom, and it surprised us with how good it was! It reminds me of a cross between The Princess Bride and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. It is a total fantasy movie, but who doesn't want to watch Robert DeNiro as a gay pirate?

Fred Clause - I went to see this over Thanksgiving with Bill and Tina. I thought it was going to be totally corny, but I was surprised. It was very funny and even had a good message.

Amazing Grace - This is a great movie, but it is a little slow. The story is about those who fought against slavery and how the song came to be written. It's a really powerful story.

August Rush - Another great story, but be prepared to cry. This is all about how music brings a family back together. I have never seen anyone play a guitar like this kid, it is absolutely amazing!!

Decorations

So, Mary and I decided to decorate our apartment this year. We've never really done much, but this year we both wanted it to be cute and feel more like Christmas. Our tree is slightly pathetic, but we like it. Plus, I found my elf that my sister Kathy made me when I was 7!!

Visitors

My friends Jen and Dallin came out to visit last week. They both really wanted a break from Provo, so they decided to come to Vegas. We went all around town, even going on the roller coaster at the Sahara. We also visited the Ethel M. Chocolate factory (who doesn't love chocolate!) and went to the Imperial Palace for the never-ending car show. I don't really love cars, but they had some really cool ones, and it smelled just like Grandpa Myers garage!

Happy Thanksgiving

So, in case you didn't know, I went to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. I spent my time with my brother and his family. I had a lot of fun and thought you might enjoy a few pictures. This was my first experience with deep fried turkey, but it was actually pretty good! (And it was even better because Bill didn't burn down the house.)

Go Pandas!

It's been a crazy weekend, but I survived. The whole week was crazy getting things all ready and making sure all the KEY clubbers had their forms in (Some where still turning them in an hour before we got on the bus!) Plus, our school had a student die this week. She was at a Catholic youth conference in Ohio. They had just arrived and went accross the street to get breakfast when she was hit by a truck (the driver didn't stop). She was on student council and very involved, so it's been quite a shock for the school.


I got to school on Friday night about midnight, to get everything ready for the 947 Key clubbers going to Magic Mountain. Since our school was the departure spot, Patty and I got to run around a lot finding things and setting up. Plus, once everyone was on the buses (all 20 of them!), we had to put everything back and lock up (and alarm) the school before we could leave. We had some problems with the alarm but managed to get the buses going around 3 am.

We had a lot of fun at Magic Mountain. Our high school brought 33 students. While at the park, we attended Fall Rally. There were key clubs from all over California, Nevada, and Hawaii. They have to split the rally into three sessions to get them all in! It's pretty amazing to see that many young people all united to do community service and raise money for a good cause. We eventually made it back to Vegas. Two buses broke down so all the others had to take on extra kids, and of course took time. I think I finally got home around 2 am on Sunday.

Hash House A Go Go

I went out with some friends from work to a restaurant called Hash House A Go Go. The portion sizes were out of control. I don't know if you can tell, but my plate is about a foot and a half across!! My friend Ashley's chicken pot pie was HUGE!! My friend Patty got the fried chicken on a bacon waffle tower, what a combo! Although the food was ginormous, at least I have lunch for tomorrow.
